Detour Company Theatre

Tutti Adaptive Choir
Tutti is an inclusive and adaptive choir program designed to welcome children of all abilities offered by the Phoenix Children’s Chorus. This program provides a supportive and nurturing environment where singers can explore their musical talents and enjoy the joy of choral singing. Children and youth who enjoy singing r

Wings for Autism by The Arc of Arizona
A yearly event, typically held in the fall. Wings for Autism is an event designed to alleviate some of the stress that families who have a child with autism experience when traveling by air. The program provides families with the opportunity to practice entering the airport, obtaining boarding passes, going through security, and boarding a plane. Wings for Autism also gives airport, airline, and Transportation Security Administration professionals and other personnel the opportunity to observe, interact and deliver their services in a structured, learning environment. This experience is equally useful for families that have a member with other intellectual or developmental disabilities that are concerned about the ability of their family member to travel.

Sensory Friendly Activities

AMC Sensory Friendly Films: AMC is proud to partner with the Autism Society to offer unique movie showings where we turn the lights up, and turn the sound down, so you can get up, dance, walk, shout or sing!

Chuck E. Cheese: Sensory Sundays at participating locations, held the first Sunday of each month from 9:00am – 11:00am. Call your location nearest you, as their website does not list all participating locations. 

Elevate Trampoline Park: Enjoy the freedom of jumping. Sensory Sunday provides a quieter, toned-down jumping experience for those with special needs. Every Sunday at 9:00am. $10, 1 caregiver jumps free per paid participant. View the location calendar for more details!

Harkins Theatres: Harkins Theatres has introduced Sensory Friendly Screenings. One Saturday each month at 2:00PM, select Harkins locations will present a family friendly film in an auditorium dedicated to persons with autism and guests who prefer a more Sensory Friendly environment. Sensory Friendly Screenings include brightened light levels, reduced sound volume and room for guest interaction. Outside snacks are also permitted to the showings.

Jordan’s Corner: Arizona’s first indoor play space intentionally designed to encourage multiple types of open-ended, inclusive play for children ages six and younger.

Krazy Air Trampoline Park in Mesa: Offers Sensory Sunday on Sundays from 9:00am – 10:00am. Enjoy the freedom of jumping. Sensory Sunday provides a quieter, toned-down jumping experience for those with special needs.

Pollack Tempe Cinemas: Recently began offering sensory friendly films. See website or their social media for more details. 

Sky Zone Trampoline Parks: Sensory hours: Enjoy the freedom of jumping. Sensory hours provide a quieter, toned-down jumping experience for those with special needs.

Urban Air Adventure Parks: Offers events specifically designed for children with Autism and special needs to enjoy time at the park without loud music, flashing lights- and to have a lot of fun! See calendar for timing and details.
