Sensitive Santa

We are excited to announce our continued partnership with the City of Surprise Parks and Recreation Department and TEAM 4 Kids. This is the Autism Society of Greater Phoenix’s 10th Annual Sensitive Santa Experience for those with Special Needs and our 18th event! This event provides a supportive environment eliminating long lines, bright lights and loud noises that can trigger sensory sensitivities for someone on the spectrum.

Join us on Saturday, December 9th, 2023 at the Surprise Stadium from 9am – 4pm to experience this amazing event. While families wait to visit with the Holiday Icon, they will be able to chat with vendors, experience games and crafts, partake in snacks and goodies, all of which leads up to a photo opportunity during a private one on one visit with Santa. Activities will take place outdoors. Visits with Santa will be indoors.

There is a $5 fee to guarantee a visit with Santa. Walk-ins are welcome to enjoy the event but cannot be guaranteed a visit with Santa due to the popularity of this event.

Tips for Registration:
1. Registration is done through the City of Surprise.
2. To register for the event, please select the tab with the time slot that you are looking for.*
3. Please ONLY select the parent/guardian who is registering for the event then “add to cart”. There will be individual prompts to provide further information on each family member once you click the “check out” tab.
4. Having difficulty registering? Contact the City of Surprise at (623) 222-2000.

*Time slots are NOT actual appointment times. These are time blocks to help ease flow; we do not guarantee a time. We will do our best to move visits along, but we ask that you be respectful and give grace for a family that needs a little extra time to acclimate to their environment.

Sensitive Santa will be closed from 12-1 PM to allow Santa and his team to take a break for lunch and prepare for the afternoon!

Road Closure Notice from the City of Surprise: For the safety of those attending City of Surprise holiday events near the Surprise Recreation Campus, Bullard Avenue will be closed between Paradise and Tierra Buena lanes 24 hours a day from November 30, 2023 through January 3, 2024. The south Surprise Regional Library parking lot will also be closed during this time.

What is Sensitive Santa?

Our Sensory Inspired Santa Experience for Kids with Autism and with other disabilities provides a supportive environment which eliminates bright lights and loud noises that can trigger sensory sensitivities. Each child taking their picture with Santa receives one on one time with the holiday icon in a private area that is modestly decorated. Parents have expectations about different key events in their lives that they want to share with their children. Just because a child is on the Autism Spectrum doesn’t mean they should be denied this experience. We are hoping to make this a unique and memorable experience for the entire family.
